Unified Leagues
If you can play it as a team sport, you can make it Unified. Whether it’s a lunchtime pickup game, club based activity, or interscholastic league, how you play, is up to you.

Teammates may be of varying ages and ability levels. However, they must be engaged together on the same team in the activity and in a meaningful and appropriate manner.

Teammates are of similar age and ability level. Develop league and championship play against other schools within the
same school district.

SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAMS
Get the Unified Sports® Knowledge
Find and work with your allies
- Contact your Regional SOSC staff
- Identify and establish student leaders
- Identify key school administration, leadership and staff
- General Physical Education classes can partner with Adapted Physical Education classes that occur during the same period
- Unified/Inclusive Clubs can play during lunch, club-time, or after school
Develop and share your plan
- Schedule a meeting with school administration and Regional SOSC staff
- Talk with on-campus clubs to gather interest
- Determine what sports will be offered, how it will be presented, who will coach, and how teammates will be recruited.
- Determine how it will be funded, if necessary, for items such as uniforms, transportation to/from games, etc.
Create opportunities to train and play together
Make it sustainable
- Explore inclusive youth leadership and advocacy
- Provide opportunities for whole school engagement
- Find fun and innovative ways to fundraise for Special Olympics. Invite other students and clubs to participate.
- Participate as “Fans in the Stands” at an event and cheer on your favorite team
