AVAILABLE POSITIONS

The Vice President, Marketing & Communications (VPMC) is a collaborative, hands-on leader responsible for advancing the mission of Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) through powerful marketing, storytelling, and internal and external communication strategies, with athletes at the heart of all our efforts. This role leads a passionate Marketing & Communications team, working alongside them as a contributing writer, editor, strategist, and creative partner.

The VPMC develops and executes high-impact marketing and communications plans that elevate SOSC’s brand, support athlete recruitment and community engagement, and drive SOSC’s strategic initiatives. This role also plays a key part in activating the Special Olympics national campaign locally and building community recognition through targeted efforts in areas SOSC underserves.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the VPMC helps shape organizational direction and culture while collaborating closely with its trusted team to ensure high-quality execution, shared ownership, and creative momentum.

The Manager, Coaches Education & Sports Administration manages, implements, and evaluates high-quality education programs through SOSC’s comprehensive Coaches Education Program, to ensure volunteer coaches are well-prepared, certified, and supported in delivering positive athlete experiences. This role supports chapter-level events, manages risk and safety processes, and coordinates awards and partnerships with sports organizations. The manager supervises volunteers, oversees administrative compliance, and contributes to organizational goals by fostering collaboration and upholding Special Olympics Southern California’s standards and strategic initiatives.

The Manager, Development is responsible for supporting and executing the regional community resource development strategy for Region 4 (Orange County). This role collaborates with community partners, staff, and key volunteers to drive revenue growth. The Manager, Development manages a diverse fundraising portfolio with a focus on gifts of $2,500 or more through Individual Giving, Corporate Sponsorships, Grants, Signature Events, and the Law Enforcement Torch Run, including Tip-A-Cop initiatives.

The Manager, Sports is responsible for organizing and managing the Region’s community sports programming, and will spend most of their time directing attention, resources, and capacity to communities within their assigned geography within the Region. Additionally, this position will be required to support other events as assigned within the Region. The Manager, Sports will collaborate closely with the community and staff to promote Special Olympics, aid in the recruitment of new athletes, Unified Partners, and volunteers, and assist Local Programs and Unified Champion Schools to achieve the goals, objectives, standards, and mission of SOSC.
